2.What are the delivery conditions and processing methods of SA515 Grade 70 steel for reactor pressure vessels?

  • Delivery Conditions:Hot-rolled, normalized, or stress-relieved annealed.
    • For thickness > 50mm: Delivered in normalized condition.
    • For thickness ≤ 50mm: Plates are typically supplied in as-rolled condition. Normalization, stress-relief treatment, or even other heat treatments (such as tempering and quenching) can be performed according to customer requirements. Non-destructive testing (NDT) such as ultrasonic testing and radiographic testing can be conducted as needed to ensure no internal defects.
  • Processing:Cutting and custom rolling are available to meet personalized needs of different customers.

3.What are the characteristics of SA515 Grade 70?

  • High-temperature resistance: Suitable for medium and high-temperature environments, capable of withstanding pressure and stress at high temperatures.
  • Easy weldability: Exhibits good welding performance, applicable to welding methods such as arc welding and submerged arc welding.
  • High mechanical properties: Possesses high strength and good toughness, able to bear large mechanical stress.
  • Corrosion resistance: Maintains stable performance in general corrosive environments.

4.What is the application scope of SA515 Grade 70?

  • Manufacturing of core equipment in the power industry

In the power industry, SA515Gr70 is widely used in boiler manufacturing, such as manufacturing key components like boiler drums and headers, ensuring the long-term stable operation of boilers and providing reliable thermal energy support for power production.

  • Key equipment in the petrochemical field

Although SA515Gr70 is not a professional corrosion-resistant steel, it is used to manufacture pressure vessels such as reactors, heat exchangers, and separators by virtue of its high strength and comprehensive properties, ensuring the stable production of petrochemical products.

  • Extensive applications in other industrial fields

SA515Gr70 also plays an important role in manufacturing equipment such as liquefied gas tanks, liquid ammonia storage tanks, high-pressure water pipes in hydropower stations, and turbine scrolls.

5.What is the difference between SA 515 70 and 516 70?

SA-516-70 typically has higher tensile strength compared to SA515 GR 70. Applications: SA-516-70 is commonly used for pressure vessels where moderate and lower temperature service is required. SA515 GR 70 is used for intermediate and higher temperature service applications.
