1.What are the main types of LPG storage tanks, and what are their typical application scenarios, materials, capacities, and structural characteristics respectively?

Type Structural Characteristics Capacity Range Typical Application Scenarios Materials
Spherical Tank Strong pressure-bearing capacity, minimal surface area 50–2000 m³ Large LPG storage and distribution stations, oil refineries High-strength low-alloy steel (e.g., 16MnR)
Horizontal Cylindrical Tank Simple manufacturing process, multiple units can be connected in parallel 10–100 m³ Medium and small storage and distribution stations, industrial user terminals Carbon steel or low-alloy steel
Vertical Cylindrical Tank Small footprint, suitable for high-pressure scenarios 50–500 m³ Urban gas peak-shaving stations, LPG filling stations Low-alloy steel
Underground Tank High safety, saves ground space 50–500 m³ Populated areas (e.g., urban storage and distribution stations) Corrosion-resistant steel + concrete protective layer

2.Maintenance of Safety Devices on Storage Tank Exteriors:
To prevent over-temperature or over-pressure accidents caused by operational errors or unexpected incidents in pressure vessels, storage tanks are typically equipped with necessary safety devices according to their process characteristics.

There are various types of safety devices, which should be reasonably installed and arranged—such as safety valves and pressure gauges.

To ensure that safety devices always remain in good condition, accurate, reliable, sensitive, and functional, it is essential to strengthen the maintenance of these devices during the operation of the storage tanks.

Notes:
a. The fire separation distance shall be determined based on the larger value of the total volume of the storage tank area or the volume of a single tank in this table.
b. When the volume of a single underground LPG storage tank is no more than 50 m³ and the total volume is no more than 400 m³, the fire separation distance can be reduced by 50% according to the provisions of this table.
c. Residential areas and villages refer to those with 1,000 or more people or 300 or more households.

when the number is less than 1,000 people or 300 households, the corresponding fire separation distance shall be determined according to the requirements for other civil buildings in this table.
