SA 387 Gr. 22 Class 2 is a 2.25Cr-1Mo alloy steel plate per ASTM A387, designed for high-temperature pressure vessels (up to 595°C/1100°F).It requires normalization + tempering (Class 2 condition), offering ≤220 HBW hardness and enhanced creep/oxidation resistance.Typical applications include refinery reactors, power plant boilers, and petrochemical equipment exposed to H₂/H₂S environments.

2.What is the temperature range for SA 387 GR 11 Cl 2?

In the lower end of the temperature range SA 387 Gr 11 (1150 °F min tempering temperature) , and SA 387 Gr 22 (1250 °F min tempering temperature) are used. These grades can be specified in either class 1 or 2 and can also be provided in the Normalized & Tempered or Quenched and Tempered.

 

3.What is the hardness of SA 387 GR 22 Class2?

Hardness Requirements:

Brinell Hardness (HBW): ≤ 220 HBW (standard requirement after normalization + tempering).

Typical Range: 180–210 HBW (actual measured values post-heat treatment).
